About Us: The Rod-N-Reel Café was established in May of 2000 by Ray and Karen LeClair. It is located in downtown Greenville, Maine. The restaurant sits across the street from beautiful Moosehead Lake. The Moosehead Lake area is a popular tourist destination for those interested in hiking, fishing, camping, bird watching, boating or those who just want to “get away from it all”. We are a 4 season tourist destination. In the winter, the snowmobiling is fantastic. There is a giant network of groomed trails connecting to all parts of Maine and into Canada. The ice fishing is plentiful with Moosehead Lake being 40 miles long and 20 miles wide. The surrounding wilderness has untold miles of groomed and ungroomed cross country skiing and snow shoeing available. Then there is always the opportunity to rent a cabin, snuggle by the fire, or read a good book. The Moosehead Lake region has something to offer everyone.Ray and Karen have been in the restaurant business their entire adult lives. They have worked or managed eateries ranging from 4 star/4diamond resort hotels, to sporting camps and greasy spoons, to fine French restaurants. When Ray and Karen decided to open their own restaurant, they took a bit of what they had learned over the incorporated the best pieces of their experiences into one neat package. The Rod-N-Reel Café is a charming, casual style, family restaurant. Then menu features everything from fresh ground, hand made burgers, to Ray's famous Prime Rib. For the seafood lovers, try the fresh Maine clams coated in Ray's secret light coating. The spaghetti sauce is made from scratch and is available in a hearty meat sauce or in a vegetarian marinara sauce. The meatballs are made from scratch, the garlic bread is grilled to order and the garlic spaghetti is sautéed fresh to your liking. If you like good old fashioned home made soup; you'll love the Haddock Chowder made with real cream and lots of fresh haddock. The French Onion Soup simmers for over 20 hours before it is ready to be served piping hot and topped with cheese. Ray's hearty Chili has taken 1st place at the infamous Chowder/Chili cook-off in 2004 and again in 2008. The menu features great crispy salads, lean pastrami and corned beef, to hand cut New York Sirloins. The menu also has many homemade pies and dessert selections to satisfy the most discriminating sweet tooth.
The Café also features a full bar, a reasonable wine list, and a great staff of servers to complete your dining experience. The Rod-N-Reel Café is open year round, with seasonal hours. There is a backyard dining area that overlooks the lake and is open when the weather permits. Listen to the loons, watch the mighty Katahdin Steam Ship, and see the float planes land and the boats cruise by. The restaurant prides itself on its great food, great service, and great prices. Stop and ask the local people where the best food is, and 4 out of 5 people will tell you, the Rod-N-Reel Café is the place to eat in Greenville. Please stop in, make yourself at home and enjoy all the Rod-N-Reel Café has to offer.![]() Rod-N-Reel Cafe
